How to check a New York wildlife operator's license

  1. Ask the operator for their DEC Nuisance Wildlife Control Operator license number.
  2. Look the name and number up in the DEC's public list of licensed operators: data.ny.gov.
  3. Check that the license has not expired. Licenses in the file this site uses ran through September 30, 2026.
  4. Contact the DEC Division of Fish and Wildlife if anything does not match.

New York law says no one may charge a fee to take, possess, transport or release nuisance wildlife without this license.
