What New York law adds
- Only a holder of the DEC's General (commercial) Nuisance Wildlife Control Operator license may charge a fee to remove wildlife for a property owner. Ask for the license number and check it before you agree to a price.
- The DEC says it is illegal for you to move or relocate an animal off your property. Trapping it yourself and releasing it elsewhere is not an option, so a licensed operator is the legal route.
Questions to ask when you compare quotes
- Is the price per animal, per visit, or for the whole job?
- Does it include sealing the entry points, repairs, and cleanup, or only trapping?
- Is there a follow-up visit to make sure the animals are gone?
- What is your DEC license number?
